The Warner High School Racing Team made a powerful impression this weekend at Kimchi Mountain Speedway in Nashoba, Oklahoma, competing in the 2nd annual Fight Like a Kid benefit race. The event, held in honor of Colton White—who bravely battled childhood cancer before his passing in 2024—drew an incredible 106 cars to the track, all united in the mission to support childhood cancer research.

Warner brought both of its cars and 15 students to represent the program, and the evening delivered both on and off the track. The team’s momentum started early in the factory stock division, where Warner stormed to a 1st and 2nd place finish in the heat race. That energy carried into the A-Feature, where the Kyle Davis Chassis Monte Carlo, driven by class instructor Luke Leatherman, captured the win, while Superintendent Mr. Vinson powered the team’s Camaro to an impressive 3rd-place finish.

The victory marked the team’s second win of the season and the first for the newly formed 2025–26 Warner Racing Team, which has grown to 17 students—nearly double last year’s roster.

Beyond racing success, the night was filled with meaningful connections. Students and staff engaged with fans, fellow racers, and supporters who follow the program on social media, spreading awareness of the hands-on opportunities the team provides.

Perhaps the most touching moments came off the track. The Warner team had the privilege of meeting children and families currently fighting cancer, listening to their powerful stories of resilience. They also connected with Colton White’s family, learning more about the legacy of the young man whose memory continues to inspire others. One unforgettable highlight came when young Brailynn, a cancer survivor, rang the victory bell on the front stretch to celebrate being cancer-free. Her story, captured in a book she wrote, now sits proudly in Warner’s trophy case beside the night’s winning trophy.

By the end of the evening, the race had raised more than $11,000 for childhood cancer research—a cause the Warner team was honored to support.

The night was more than just a triumph on the track; it was a celebration of perseverance, community, and the impact of racing far beyond the checkered flag.
